BMX Racing became an Olympic sport at the 2008 Beijing Olympics. BMX Freestyle followed at the 2020 Toyko Olympic games.
WHAT IS BMX?
BMX, or Bicycle Motocross, is an action-packed, adrenaline-pumping sport that involves racing bicycles on dirt tracks filled with jumps, berms, and other obstacles. BMX racing is divided into different categories, based on age and skill level, and riders compete in heats to qualify for the main event.
There are many forms of BMX, but only two are internationally recognized and are Olympic sports!

How can people get involved in BMX?
Getting involved in BMX is easier now than ever before. Many cities have BMX tracks that are open to the public, and local clubs and organizations offer coaching and training programs for people of all ages and abilities.
To get started, all you need is a BMX bike, a helmet, and a willingness to learn and have fun.

Behind the organization’s success are passionate individuals working tirelessly to promote the sport of BMX and inspire others to get involved.
Founded in 1982, St. Albert BMX started as a small-scale project that aimed to bring together local riders and their families. Over the years, the community has grown, and so has the organization, with volunteers devoting countless hours to host local and national competitions, as well as to maintain the BMX track.

World-Class BMX development in Canada
Excitement is building as we near the completion of the newest and most impressive BMX park yet, right here at our home track, in St. Albert, Alberta.
Our world-class Supercross track is set to host national and international competitions and will feature some of the most incredible jumps and obstacles ever seen in Canada.
The new park will offer something for riders of all levels, from beginners to elite athletes, and will undoubtedly push the boundaries of what is possible in BMX.

Despite the success of St. Albert BMX, the organization is not without its challenges. The biggest of these is fundraising for the maintenance of the track and equipment.
The organization’s reliance on donations and sponsorship is critical to its survival. In addition, volunteers are always needed to help organize events and competitions.
