Web Design
Fresh new look - same great club! The St. Albert BMX website has been recently updated. If there are any incomplete pages, bear with us for a few more days. We are looking for a volunteer to help update (and eventually take over) the website administration duties. If you are a tech-savvy St. Albert BMX member who is interested, please contact Marnie Vickery at the track.
Racing starts May 6
Hey - we would have started earlier, but Mother Nature had other plans. Obviously she doesn't have any kids in BMX! This start date is obviously dependent on track condition and weather, but we will keep our fingers crossed. Keep an eye on the website or phone 460-1BMX (1269) for updates or changes.
Plate change: All amateur males will now be required to have a YELLOW plate with BLACK numbers.
You can no longer use a white plate. This means you will be required to purchase a new one or provide your own with a yellow background. The prices for plates will be announced shortly.
Registration
A sincere "Thank you" to all the riders who registered at the Lifestyle Expo held at Servus Place!
Congratulations to the following riders:
- Friday winner of free St. Albert membership – Shawn Hebner
- Saturday winner of free St. Albert membership – Jake Banak
- Sunday winner of free St. Albert membership – Koltan Potts
- Weekend winner of free Family St. Albert membership – Daemen and Dyllen Ewanchuk
There will be another registration night at Servus Place 5–8pm on Thursday May 1. You can get a head start by downloading and filling in the proper forms at the bottom of our membership page. We will require a copy of Birth Certificate or Passport to prove citizenship for all members that have never provided one before.
It is highly recommended that riders wanting to start the season right away come out to pre-register, especially if you want to race on the first night of the season. You will not be able to register AND race on the same night as we need to get motos built and the riders racing!
Speaking of racing -- we require event registration each Tuesday and Thursday night by phone or in person by 6:30pm. There will be no exceptions to this. Note that "online registration" is no longer offered.
Any members not receiving our e-mail updates can send their e-mail address to tightwad [at] stalbertbmx [dot] com to receive important information updates.
Camp Cools
Sign up for the best training you can receive from one of Canada’s top Pro’s! Camp Cools is scheduled to come to St. Albert BMX for May 30 and June 1. Aaron Lepp will be heading up our camp this year and bringing a top group of trainers with him. We will have 2 different camps on this weekend to tailor training needed for our riders. This may be the only training camp we have this year, so don’t miss it!
Saturday, May 31 10am to 3:30 pm – Beginner/Novice Training
This training is set for anyone who is a beginner rider that would like training to learn the sport of BMX or a novice rider or to help them develop their skill and confidence further…PERFECT for the little racer!
A great deal of attention is given to our new riders to help them learn to do it right. This is a highly recommended camp if your child is going to continue racing the year.
Sunday, June 1 10am to 3:30 pm – Advanced/Expert Training
This training is set for riders that are more advanced in their skills. If you are an experienced rider and want to improve, then this is the day for you! Aaron and the Camp Cools crew will be cranking it up a notch. You will be given one-on-one feedback on areas needed for improvement. This will be a tough day of training and not for the weak at heart! You will be pushed to accomplish goals you have never met before!
Your application must be accepted into this day of training as it is not for novice riders.
Cost is $60 per rider. Lunch will be provided, but the concession will not be open. Please make sure your child has enough snacks and water to make it through the day. Please do not send pop or candy! This is rider training, not a picnic in the park.
You can contact Marnie Vickery at 419-2843 to sign up or see her at the track when racing starts.
Kudos & Good Luck !
- Congratulations to Calvin McRae for taking Alberta BMX District #1 in 2007. Calvin was the rider with the most district points in all of Alberta last year.
- Good Luck to Ronin and Alexie Pusch. They will soon be headed to China to compete at the BMX World Championships.
